Lion M.P. Bhuta Sion Sarvajanik School
A Heritage Since 1956
Evolving Through the Years, Empowering Generations
The Lion M.P. Bhuta Sion Sarvajanik School is a remarkable testament to the vision and dedication of the New Sarvajanik Education Society, established in June 1956. Originally launched as Sion Sarvajanik School, it began as a Gujarati medium institution to serve the local community’s educational aspirations. Rooted in cultural values and academic rigor, the school quickly became a cornerstone of learning for Gujarati-speaking families in Sion and nearby areas.
The 1950s marked a transformative period for the Society. The decision to establish a high school in Sion was meticulously planned during multiple Governing Council meetings, emphasizing the creation of a strong foundation. By 1956, the groundwork was complete, and the school commenced operations under the able leadership of Shri S.S.N. Iyer, its first principal.
As the school flourished, it adapted to the evolving needs of the community. The introduction of an English Medium section marked a pivotal moment, reflecting the growing demand for broader educational opportunities. This new section complemented the Gujarati medium foundation, offering families a choice that aligned with their linguistic and cultural preferences. The English Medium section brought innovative pedagogy and a globally aligned curriculum, fostering critical thinking, communication skills, and adaptability in students.
In 1959, the school received a generous donation from Shri Jayantilal Bhuta, who wished to honor his late father, Mohanlal Parmanand Bhuta. In recognition of this contribution, the school was renamed M.P. Bhuta Sion Sarvajanik School. This act of philanthropy symbolized the deep bond between the institution and its supporters.
The school’s journey of transformation continued into the 21st century. In 2000, a major renovation project was undertaken in collaboration with the Lion’s Club of Sion, modernizing its infrastructure and ushering in a new era of progress. Renamed Lion M.P. Bhuta Sion Sarvajanik School, the institution embraced a stronger identity while preserving its rich heritage.
In 2005, the English Medium section was further honored by being named Smt. Kamlaben Gambhirchand Shah English Medium School, following a generous donation from the Kamlaben Gambhirchand Shah Charity Trust. This milestone underscored the school’s ability to adapt and grow, ensuring it remained relevant to the diverse needs of its students.
Today, the Lion M.P. Bhuta Sion Sarvajanik School is a vibrant institution that seamlessly balances tradition and modernity. It stands as a living legacy of resilience, inclusivity, and excellence, committed to nurturing young minds and shaping the future. With its dual-medium approach and dedication to holistic education, the school continues to inspire generations, embodying the belief that education is the foundation of a brighter tomorrow.
